The town of Chamois, in Valtournenche, is the only municipality in Italy reached only by cable car or on foot. For this reason it is the ideal destination for those seeking a quiet moment. The town consists of several villages, scattered on the sunlit side of the mountain, which preserve beautiful examples of typical rural. The lack of traffic and the silence of the town are good for those who shy away from the city chaos.
Numerous excursions can be made in the area. A short walk (or a comfortable chair) you can reach Lake Lod, beautifully placed, and the nearby area for a picnic. Walkers can continue along the "big balcony of the Matterhorn" to the beautiful village of Cheneil or go to Clavalité Sanctuary, situated on a ridge very wide.
A flat dirt road, almost entirely in the forest, connecting with Chamois, La Magdeleine: it is a suitable location for mountain biking, accessible to the less fit. Very nice also hike to Col de Nana and halfway up the trail that connects to Valtournenche Chamois.
At least down, it is worthwhile to avoid the cable car and return to the valley along the winding trail that goes down but charming Buisson alongside some beautiful waterfalls.
