Giardini di Roccia

Discovering Alpine geology. The geological history of the geological Aosta Valley is told in two rock gardens set up in Pollein respectively, in the plain east of Aosta, and Fontainemore in the valley of Lys.
Great Place to Pollein, a vast green area equipped with a couple of kilometers from Aosta, a path drawn in the park, follows the bed of Baltea, showing the different rocks that make up the mountains of the region. The 50 rocks, blocks of various sizes, they happen in an orderly sequence from the standpoint of geology and geography: from the morainic amphitheater of Ivrea to Mont Blanc, crossing the complex geological systems that make up this portion of the Alps. Each mass is accompanied by a descriptive card.

The rock garden Fontainemore, in the nature reserve of Mount Mars, is dedicated instead to the geological history of the valley of the Lys. Not far from the visitors of the nature reserve was created the trail of stones Lys-environment that consists of a dozen large rocks such as gneiss, schist and marble, minerals representative of the valley.
Designed to be enjoyed by different categories of users, the garden is wheelchair accessible, and is complemented by a green space available to children and a pond.
